Holiday Orders!! :)

Hello and Happy Holidays!! 🙂

AnimatedGIF-RudolphwLitesOnAntlers

We have been receiving orders for holidays and so far we are able to guarantee a well before Christmas delivery date. 🙂

If you do want to order saddle pads for Christmas gifts, it takes only about 2 days for us to make it and send it, + a day or 2 if there is increased volume on the sewing machine!  However, in order to make the 2-ish day sew-to-ship date, we ask that you select from our available fabrics – because that is what is in stock.  Special order fabrics (ex. collegiate themed saddle pads) I have about a 2 week wait for the fabric to come in.

We can take orders  up to the Dec 16th for mail orders and Dec 19th for local orders that are picked up.

Here are our latest saddle pads that have made their way to horses around the U.S.:

“Florida Gators” (all purpose) shipped to SC:

“Red Nosed Reindeer (all purpose) shipped to GA:

“Camouflage” (all purpose/extra long) and “Fancy Stamps” (jumper) shipped to PA:

First Official Booth

Hi!!

Long time, no speak!  Sorry about that.  Too much stuff going on and not enough hands!!  Anyway.  Jen and I have been busy, busy, busy.

Two weeks ago, I was supposed to unofficially set up a little space to sell some saddle pads.  The location was in Kent CT for an eventing show.  But… the weather was less than friendly.  Jen was entered to compete but she was concerned about the rain and Chloe slipping and getting hurt, or she herself getting hurt.  There was grass turned mud everywhere and it was raining Clydesdales and Percherons!  Jen completed her dressage test, scratched for stadium and would have scratched for cross country, but Kent ended up canceling that phase because of the conditions.  Out of 143 horses scheduled to compete, only 16 horses and riders actually got through the cross country course.  But several horses were slipping at the jumps and the ambulance (as required for all horse events) confirmed that they could not get to the certain area of the fields should they be needed (if a rider falls… and gets hurt).  So they day ended early.

Needless to say, setting up a tent and displaying saddle pads was not going to happen.  Between the wind and rain making a mess of everything and me still a little nervous to be doing this, I decided to pass.  I am fortunate enough to have a loyal and supportive and encouraging following at Oakendale though, and they were enthusiastic about a personal trunk show.  And I was happy to oblige.  Cameron bought the Halloween Spiders and Meredith bought the Halloween Vines.   Julie has claimed (Halloween) Candy Corn.  Kylie got the Pink Camoflauge and Alison the Pink Paisley.  So I felt good about the day! : )

The following day, we went to Arbitrage Tack and dropped off 5 more Halloween themed saddle pads to display and hopefully sell.  We also got the good news that 2 of our saddle pads sold. Woohoo!!  The 2 saddle pads were reversible, so I am wondering if that is going to a favorite for folks.  I’ll try to make a few more reversibles to bring to shows and sell online, just to get a better feel for personal preference.

Ok.  So back to the title of this post.  Tomorrow (which will be today by the time I post this!), we are setting u an official booth at Fox Crossing Jumper show in Morris CT, which is doing a fundraiser for Breast Cancer awareness.  Jen, the very sweet and personable PR girl in our little team of 2, contacted the farm and asked if we could donate a couple of saddle pads as well as set up a booth to sell.  The request was very well received.  We are donating 3 saddle pads, 2 of which are special-themed for breast cancer awareness:

Design Your Own Saddle Pad!!

Hello!

So we’ve been working hard on developing a saddle pad cookbook of sorts.   We’ve made 2 so far, one for us as the master copy, and one we dropped off at Arbitrage Tack, the lovely and well equipped tack and consignment shop owned by Randi and Deb, who have graciously agreed to sell our saddle pads!

BookCover    BookHello    BookPages

The book has every fabric that we offer, with actual samples and photographs.  It also has sizings (dressage, pony sized, regular all-purpose) and the ingredients that we have available to make a saddle pad.

FabricPages2    FabricPages`

In addition to the pre-made saddle pads that we have made and are being displayed for purchase at Arbitrage, we also wanted to offer customers the opportunity to design their own saddle pad.  All the fabrics have been glued down to the pages, but the polypropylene samples (used for binding the saddle pad together as well as making the girth straps)  and the border samples (sewn around the entire saddle pad) have been fastened to their pages with velcro.  This allows you to be able to un-velcro the samples and place them next to the fabrics that you are interested in, getting a preview of exactly the color combinations that YOU want!

border that goes around saddle pad  BuildYourSaddlePad

We will make just about anything though.  If the fabric is not in our book, we’ll find it for you!  If you already have a fabric purchased that you want us to work with, we can do that too.  We are also happy to offer ‘team’ saddle pads, for barns or pony club teams, etc… where you may want several of the same kind made.

Custom orders can still be made through our website as well.  All the same samples that are in the book are also on the website, and you can mix and match colors (don’t forget we can do reversible too) to come up with exactly what you want.  The pre-made ones that we have designed are also available for your purchase.

We are constantly adding new fabrics and welcome suggestions on fabrics you’d like to see.  Just let us know!

Thanks!! : )

Saddle pad sizes and fabric backing!

Hello!

Just a couple of things I wanted to mention…

We are going to try to stick to the darker or non-cream and white colors for the backing of saddle pads.  If you do specifically prefer the lighter colors, we can still provide that.  The non white colors are better at hiding the dust and dirt that can ‘stain’ the underside of the saddle pad — even after washings.  So we will continue to make the best color choice for the quilted backings and those colors will include: black, dark blue, dark brown and red.  Here is the link for all the quilted fabric backings that we use, Quilted Fabrics!

Reversible saddle pads may or may not have a quilted side, but in general we will stay away from mostly white fabrics.

As for sizing, all pre-made all purpose saddle pads will be slightly larger as well.   To date, our dimensions have been as such:

Length = 19 inches, Width = 25.5 inches, Spine = 21 inches

SmallerAllPurposeSaddlePad

This is the new larger size we will be moving to:

Length = 20 inches, Width = 28 inches, Spine = 23 inches

LargerAllPurposeSaddlePad

This is the compare of the 2 sizes for relativity:

CompareAllPurposeSaddlePadSize

As usual, please feel free to contact me for any questions at cat@catscustomsaddlepads.com.  Thanks!

Ready to go!

Arbitrage Tack in Waterbury CT has shown great interest in selling my saddle pads!! : )  I will be bringing these six saddle pads in with my newly printed business cards as the price tag along with other handy information.  Nervous and excited!!

ClumpOfSaddlePads

The big one

Two ‘special’ orders were requested: one dressage saddle pad and one all purpose saddle pad.  I love the colors on these.

This is Blue Green Wave all purpose saddle pad:

This is Fern dressage saddle pad:

Fun, fun!

One of the reasons I LOVE making these saddle pads is that the younger crowd that orders them think of such fun themes!  I wish I had taken individual pictures of the saddle pads before I delivered them but hopefully you can get an idea from these photos instead.  One is a traditional camouflage print of thick cotton… yes, we even please the male customers… : ).  The other is a furry textured cheetah print that is insanely soft to the touch.

Camoflauge

Here is the assembly process:

Although these were special orders, both these fabrics are available for saddle pad purchase!
